Actually the design wall is empty at the moment while I finish some projects.  Here is the status on my end-of-year to-do list.

#4 – Machine quilt Bluegrass Frogs – Started.  I don’t think that this one will get done, but I plan to work on it tomorrow and Wednesday.

#5 – Embroider whiskers on Gus quilt – Done and I love it.

#6 – Strip Ribbons – Done.  Dark brown sashing removed and cream sashing inserted which I think looks a lot better.

Considering the holidays, I think that 5 out of 6 projects completed is good.  Recently I came across a quilt that my Mom had pieced and hand quilted.  The only part left to do is the binding, so I am adding that to my list.

I believe that Mom’s plan was to add a ruffled bed skirt/border to three sides of the quilt, but I will just bind it with the black calico fabric.

There has also been some organizing of the sewing room.  I have a long list of projects for 2016, so it will be great to start with a clean work area.

End Of Year Quilting To-Do List

Just a couple more weeks until the end of 2015, so I made a list of sewing projects that I feel I could realistically finish.

#1 – Santa pillow – Done

121615A (1024x683)

Luckily this is an easy project and ready to be gifted to Middle Daughter.  The pillow is 16″ square with red flannel, fake fur and a black velveteen ribbon belt.

#2 – Hem pants – Hopefully I will get to this tomorrow.

#3 – Finish wool applique on Star of Yesterday – There are only 15 leaves left to applique then the top will be completed.  My goal is to have this done by Friday.

#4 – Machine quilt Bluegrass Frogs – Bluegrass Frogs is now a quilt sandwich and the plan is to start machine quilting this weekend.

#5 – Embroider the whiskers on my Gus quilt – I will start this one once the Star of Yesterday is finished.

#6 – Strip Ribbons – Quilt top half way done.

121615 (1024x504)I wanted to sew a quilt where I didn’t need to make a lot of decisions – something fun & easy.  Strip Ribbons by GE Designs is exactly that.   Originally I planned on making the lap size (4 blocks x 5 rows), but discovered that I didn’t have quite enough of the sashing fabric.  Therefore my quilt will be 4 blocks x 4 rows or 58″ square.

Each Strip Ribbons block uses one full jelly roll strip, so adjusting the size of the quilt is very easy.  Also this quilt is has no borders, just the outside sashing.

Time to get busy and get something else done on my list.
