Design Wall Monday 03-28-16

All 30 blocks for the Nifty Thrifty quilt are done and now I am working on the sashing.  I found a piece of light green fabric in my stash for the cornerstones.032816 (831x1024)The sashing is a dark blue and a gray taupe fabric.  I am not sure yet what I will do about the border, but hopefully I can find something in my stash.

I have pieces cut out for two more shirt quilts and then the rest of the fabric will go into my regular stash bins.  Using recycled shirts was a fun experience, but I probably won’t buy any more.

Design Wall Monday 01-18-16

Here is my first finish for 2016 – the small (12 1/2″ x 15″) wool applique wallhanging Friends are Flowers.

I really like the changes to the border that I made to this project.

But this is a design wall post, so I had better show what is on mine.

The blocks on the left are the beginning of my Urban Cabin leaders/enders project.  The flag blocks were a block of the month that I won at the quilt guild meeting.  I am considering making two flag quilts from these blocks, but the first thing to do is make sure that they are all the same size.

Tomorrow is my first hand quilting lesson – wish me luck.  Check out what everyone else is up to at Judy’s Design Wall Monday.
