Design Wall Monday 10-21-13

The Blue Ridge Beauty top is completed and I am so pleased with my layout.  This is now my favorite quilt.

102113 (937x1024)The finished size is 69 1/2″ x 81″.  It is going to look great on my bed once I get it quilted.

The next project is the binding on the Dancing 9-patch quilt.

Blue Ridge Beauty

All the blocks (120) are made & laid out, the first six rows are sewn together, and the inner & outer border fabric has been chosen.

101913 (768x1024)The quilt top is bigger than my design wall, so the last row of blocks is on the floor.

I think that my “least” favorite part of quilting is sewing all the blocks & rows together which may be why I allowed myself to be distracted by another project.  I started  machine quilting on my Dancing 9-Patch top only to run out of thread and had to order another spool.  Once the thread arrived I finished the giant spider web quilting.

The goal this weekend is to put the binding on the 9-patch quilt and then get back to sewing Blue Ridge Beauty blocks & rows together.  I am hoping to have the center completed for Design Wall Monday.

Design Wall Monday 10-07-13

The split-9 patch top is off the design wall and the 61 Blue Ridge Beauty blocks are up.  I wanted something different than the traditional barn raising pattern and came up with this –

100713 (1024x811)The plan is to have another partial “bulls-eye” in the lower left corner.  I am so excited about how this is coming together.
