Dawn to Dusk

It was fun to play with the Dawn to Dusk blocks.  I first laid out the blocks per the directions in the book More Nickel Quilts by Pat Speth.

Blah – maybe okay, but nothing special.  Try again.

I like the darker blocks around the edges with the lighter blocks on the inside, however the odd row in the middle is distracting.

Removing the row makes a positive difference.  Now all that is needed is a bit of color tweaking and the top will be ready for assembly.

Ta-da, the completed quilt top.  The pieced border was made with bits of the leftover jellyroll strips.  Don’t they add a playful addition to the quilt?

Time to start on May’s goals:

  1.  Quilt top Social Sharks
  2.  Finish the machine quilting of Batik Pineapple Blossom
  3.  Wool applique wall-hanging We Three Gnomes
  4.  Machine quilt Valley of the Kings flimsy

Happy Mother’s Day,
