Design Wall Monday 05-14-18

If you are looking for a quick quilt pattern, I would offer the suggestion of Hanging Gardens by Cozy Quilt Designs.  Saturday morning I started this quilt and here is how my design wall looks Sunday evening.

This week I am cutting the sashing strips and the setting triangles, but as you can see the main blocks & cornerstones were completed over the weekend.  Considering that I also had brunch with my son & his family and saw the new Avengers movie – I think I made great progress.

The strip set that was used is called Tonga Treat Strip Romance.  Aren’t you proud of me? – I remembered to take a picture before starting the quilt.

I am making a few slight adjustments to my version of Hanging Gardens.  The first is that my background is not one piece of fabric, but rather a controlled scrappy color of 4 – 5 different fabrics.  The second adjustment is shortening the length by 5 or 6 “.  The pattern for a twin sized quilt shows a finished measurement of 78″ x 97 1/2″ which includes three borders – inner, pieced and outer border.  Since my bed has a footboard, a length of 97 1/2” is just a bit longer than I prefer.  Right now one option that I am considering is resizing the top and bottom pieced border, but a final decision will be made when I start on the borders.

You are a quilting “machine”. It takes me longer than that to decide on what I want to do. Can’t wait to see your finished quilt.

I like how the four patches make the other blocks look like they are hanging on a string. Great colors too. Good job!
