Design Wall Monday 11-06-17

Jump up & down!  The center of the Lincoln quilt is completed.  Yeah!

I still need to straighten the edges, but I will do that just before adding the border.  This is the design that I decided on for the border.

The name is Entwined Border and found on the Quilters Cache website.  The colors will be black for the solid square, dark gray for the entwining color and neutrals for the background.  If I calculated correctly, I only need 18 more dark gray/neutral HST before I start sewing them together.

I decided to go with 2″ finished squares making each border 6″ wide and the finished quilt top 84″ish square.

Progress was also made on the leader/ender project Wild Child – the first two rows are sewn together.

Once the Lincoln quilt top is completed, Wild Child will have my full attention.

Marlene, that border looks complicated, and I think it will really set off your Lincoln quilt. I like Wild Child too. I have a nephew who just had a baby, and they call her the wild child. Maybe I should make her a Wild Child quilt.

I think that the Entwined border is one of those that looks harder than it really is. Now that I have all the HST sewn and all the squares cut, I think that it will sew together fairly quickly. I would recommend making the Wild Child quilt. I started it as a way to use up a bunch of strings, but the more progress I make on it the more I like it. Share a picture when you get it made – it is always so fun to see how the same pattern looks different for each quilter.

I plan to finish up the projects on my design wall and make no decisions on new projects until January 1st, 2018 – start fresh with the new year. That being said, there have been a lot of block patterns and quilt designs running around in my head. 🙂
