Meteor Shower Update

Last week when I returned from Salt Lake City I was greeted by this mess on my cutting table

052016 (1024x792)

and this mess on the HQ table.

I spent most of last week taming the fabric piles and cutting out the block pieces for Meteor Shower and Oriental Twinkle Star.  This is a departure from my usual method of cut & sew, then cut some more & sew some more.

However cutting out all the block pieces helped me with the quilt layout. Last week the top looked like this

052016C (748x1024)

and earlier this week

052016D (766x1024)

and today.

052016B (803x1024)

To tell the truth I wasn’t sure if I liked this quilt top, but it is starting to grow on me.  We will see once the border is on.  This top will be 72″ x 88″ when completed and actually goes together fairly quickly.

My goal is to finish Meteor Shower top, Oriental Twinkle Star top and piece a green Lincoln block before the end of the month.  I don’t know if it will happen, but it is good to have goals – isn’t it?

Happy Weekend

That one is new to me. The lime green really sparkles.

I don’t think that Pepper Cory ever published the pattern for this quilt which is a shame. It will feel good to move it from a UFO to a finished quilt top.
