Black, White & Gold

My current project is Black, White & Bright from American Patchwork & Quilting.

Of course I had to make a few changes.  When I first glanced at this quilt I thought that all the flowers were hexies, but instead it is applique.  So the first thing was to replace the applique flowers with hexies.

The blocks are made by sewing 20 wedges together into a circle, then cutting out the square.  It seemed like such a waste to toss away the cut off fabric, so I decided to sew them on four alternate blocks along with a smaller flower hexie.  Next I added some sashing and cornerstones along with border fabric.

Since my flowers are gold, I renamed this quilt Black, White & Gold.  I wonder if I can get this top finished by Friday – I had better get busy.

Thank you. Yesterday morning I started doubting myself and my design choices, but I am pleased with it as I get more of it finished.
