Design Wall Monday 05-11-15

I can’t believe how busy the first 10 days of May have been which included a museum trip, the Denver Quilt Show, and my birthday.  And look at this birthday gift – a granddaughter!  How wonderful is that?

As for sewing – the progress on my Pickledish Reinvented quilt top has been slow.  Here are the inner circle of the blocks from a picture taken May 3rd

051115 (1024x596)and here are the blocks on May 5th.

051115A (916x1024)Saturday and Sunday were good sewing days, so I was able to make some good progress.

051115B (873x1024)The blocks across the bottom are under consideration for the border.  Right now I am working on the applique for the upper right hand block using the Apliquick method that I learned at the Denver Quilt Show.

But now is the time to fess up and show the original Pickledish Reinvented quilt.

051115C (784x1024)Quite a change, isn’t it?  I seem to be doing this more and more – taking parts of a quilt that I like and totally redoing the rest.

Check out what everyone else is working on at Judy’s Design Wall Monday.

Wow, that looks difficult — at first. I bet the hardest part was deciding where to put your colors… and stitching the curve! You are very creative to “see” something else in a pattern.

The wedges are cut from a strip pieced strip, so I just picked out three colors that I liked and went with it. The inner curve was more of a challenge than the outer curve, but not too bad since the blocks are 13″ unfinished. My favorite question is “What if?” and seeing where it leads.

PS: Congrats on the new GD! She’s a beauty.

Thank you. I teased my daughter for months about having the baby on my birthday, but I truly did not really think that it would happen. I was so surprised when she arrived on time.
