Design Wall Monday 04-06-15

I finally completed the Bloomin’ Peaks quilt top.

040615 (811x1024)The pattern called for cut 2 1/2″ squares, but I used 2″ squares.  That makes my Bloomin’ Peaks quilt top           51 1/2″ x 64 3/4″ instead of 70″ x 87″.

This quilt has an on-point setting, which is good news – bad news to me.  Good news is that this is my favorite setting; bad news is that it is so boring to actually sew those long rows.  In fact my least favorite part of quilt making is sewing all the blocks together.

Bloomin’ Peaks was my leader-ender project, so now I need a new one.  Since there was a pile of 1 1/2″ 4-patches in a bin, I decided to use them in a quilt similar to Edyta Sitar’s Scraptacular in the April 2015 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting.

040615A (626x1024)Aren’t they so cute?  I will need a bunch of these blocks, so I have some time to decide on the next design step.  There are several ideas floating around in my head and will probably have some more before I sew them together.

Check out all the quilting inspiration at Judy’s Patchwork Times.

Ooh, I like your idea. I have a bunch of 1-1/2″ strips left from my log cabin triangle projects. Congrats on a L/E finish!
