Design Wall Monday 02-02-15

The quilting, binding and sleeve was completed on the Millennium quilt in January.  It feels good to have two completed quilts for January.

020215 (891x1024)Here is a better picture of the quilting.  I decided to extend the spirals out into the border and I really like how that looks.

020215A (1024x683)I also used a template to quilt straight lines in the border.  It is a bit tricky to use a ruler with a sit-down machine, but this is a technique that I want to focus on this year.

Once this project was completed, I started a new quilt top.  I guess that it would qualify as a UFO because the background pieces had already been cut out, but no sewing started.  The pattern is Dream On from the March/April ’13 issue of Quiltmaker.

020215B (362x1024)Here are the first three blocks.  I am using oriental fabric, so I decided to call my Oriental Dreams.  My colors are gold, black and dark red, all with touches of gold.  Even though this is an easy pattern, I think that it is going to be very striking.

There are three columns of black with two columns of the red.  I plan to have the top completed by this weekend.

Check out all the quilt inspiration at Judy’s Design Wall Monday.
