Design Wall 09-23-13

I have been busy this last week making split 9 patch and Blue Ridge Beauty blocks.

The split 9 patch design only needs 3 more rows (24 blocks), so that is my priority this week.  I am auditioning the lime green as an inner border and the black as the outer border, but the final decision will be made once the center is completed.

092313 (1024x737)The top two rows look short, but the reason is that those blocks have been sewn together.  This is a fun project and I really like how this is looking.

The original Blue Ridge Beauty is 97″ x 109″, but mine will be a twin-sized quilt of 10 blocks by 12 rows.  Here are 60 blocks, so I am half way there.

092313A(1024x768)It doesn’t look like much, but once the design wall is empty – Blue Ridge Beauty is going up.

Check out lots of inspiration at Judy’s Patchwork Times.

Congrats! Looks like you got a lot done! How did you get Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler on your site the way you have it? I’d love to do something like that on mine.

      Hi Melanie,
I did the Sylvia Bridal Sampler picture for this site. I set it all up in Photoshop as a grid and then she scans the blocks when she’s finished with them and I put them in the proper place on the grid. Then it’s just a text widget with a link to the picture. I hope that answers your question.

      Thanks!

I have a blue ridge beauty in progress from a class with Bonnie. I think it is number four on the finish list.

You are working on 2 of my favorite patterns too. Wish there were more hours in the day to make them all. Yours are so pretty. Love the scrappy bright colors of the split 9 patch.
